Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued the seventh summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in relation to an alleged land scam. This summons comes under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and serves as a notice for CM Soren to record his statement.
The ED, in its latest communication, has warned that this is the last opportunity for the Chief Minister to comply, specifying that he needs to provide details regarding the place, date, and time within two days of receiving the summons. The agency has expressed concern that the non-appearance of CM Hemant Soren on the previous six summonses has hindered the progress of the investigation.
Hemant Soren has faced multiple summonses from the ED since mid-August in connection with the land 'scam' case. Despite repeated summonses, the Chief Minister has not appeared, citing various reasons.
The ED's latest communication emphasizes the urgency of CM Soren recording his statement within seven days of receiving the notice. The ongoing standoff raises questions about the progress of the investigation and the political context, as Soren alleges that the summonses are politically motivated. The ED has insisted that all necessary documents and information must be provided, emphasizing the importance of the Chief Minister's cooperation in the investigation.
